The Healthy Balance between Mind and Body

The expression "sound mind in sound body" is a translation of the Latin "mens sana in corpore sano", which means that a balanced and healthy mind contributes to a balanced and healthy body. This idea is ancient (Ancient Greece, Rome), but it is still relevant today, especially in an increasingly demanding, stressful and competitive world.

Living a full and healthy life goes beyond the absence of physical illness. The interconnection between mind and body plays a crucial role in our overall health. In a world full of challenges, it is essential to adopt practices that promote well-being, productivity and positive thinking, as they will have a decisive influence on how we feel and how we empathise with other people.

Physical and Mental Well-being Tips

• Have a healthy routine: try to sleep well, eat a balanced diet, drink water, exercise regularly and avoid alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. These habits will help keep your body and mind in shape and prevent various diseases.

Living Tours, for example, promotes physical activity and respect for others through Team Building activities (Laser Tag, Karting, among others), and recognises the importance of physical and mental well-being. That's why we offer health insurance to look after our employees, as well as a meal card to ensure that their nutritional needs are met.

• Organise your time: make a list of your daily tasks, set priorities, set realistic goals and deadlines, and stick to them. This will help you avoid procrastination, overload, forgetfulness, and increase your efficiency and satisfaction.

• Learn to relax: take a few moments out of your day to do activities that give you pleasure, such as reading, listening to music, meditating, practising a hobby, and so on. This will help reduce stress, anxiety and depression, and improve your mood and self-esteem.

The Living Lounge, our rest and entertainment room, complete with library, games and television, is a space where everyone can relax and strengthen connections with work colleagues. In this way, we believe we can give the best possible to each employee, so that they feel the inspiration and well-being capable of providing personal growth and fulfilment.

• Think positive: try to see the bright side of situations, be grateful for the good things in your life, avoid comparing yourself to others, and see problems as challenges and opportunities for growth. These attitudes will help you to have a more optimistic and hopeful outlook on life, and to face difficulties with more confidence and resilience.

Our commitment to a welcoming environment demonstrates that each employee is more than just a CV - they are a person with unique dreams, skills and aspirations. And all of this is valued at Living Tours, which strives to make everyone feel good physically and mentally. Therefore, with a focus on continuous development, we offer an environment where your achievements don't go unnoticed and where merit is rewarded.

• Reconcile work and family life: try to set limits between your working hours and your free time, and respect them. Avoid taking work home or working late. Devote quality time to your family, friends and yourself. These measures will help you maintain a balance between your professional responsibilities and your personal needs, and avoid burnout and social isolation.

In addition, we value our employees and all their growth, through performance bonuses and an incentive system, such as extra holiday days, which guarantees the stability of our teams. And, when possible, we adopt a hybrid system of teleworking and flexible working hours, which allows everyone to adjust better.

Three very important days are celebrated in February to raise awareness of problems that tend to affect our health, awareness that is fundamental not only for prevention but also as a warning for the future.

World Cancer Day

World Cancer Day is celebrated on 4 February and aims to raise awareness of prevention, screening, treatment and support for cancer patients and their families. Some ways to prevent cancer are to avoid exposure to the sun, tobacco smoke and other carcinogenic substances, eat a healthy and varied diet, exercise regularly, get vaccinated against certain diseases and have regular check-ups. October also marks Pink October, the month of breast cancer prevention.

National Coronary Heart Disease Day

National Coronary Heart Disease Day is celebrated on 14 February and aims to raise awareness of the risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease and the importance of adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle. Some of the risk factors for heart disease are hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, a sedentary lifestyle, obesity, stress and excessive alcohol consumption, among others.

World Rare Disease Day

World Rare Disease Day is celebrated on 28 February and aims to raise awareness of the existence, diversity, causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases. And to demand more support, research, resources and rights for patients and their families. Some ways to support rare disease patients are to find out about their conditions, respect their differences, include them in society, take part in awareness campaigns and fundraising, among others.

Living Tours: strengthening body and mind

Living Tours, through a series of benefits, provides its employees with a space to grow, to feel at peace and good about themselves. As such, it supports social causes in order to promote sustainability: whether it's through actions to preserve nature, such as cleaning beaches and planting trees, or by focusing our actions on local communities and animals, we believe in making a difference in the world. In this way, we also strengthen our minds by having the opportunity to help our neighbours.

And, of course, we celebrate our people and our successes with events such as Galos D'Ouro, Summer Party and Living Stars. We therefore encourage each member of this family to feel good, celebrating their achievements so that they can face the future more optimistically and recognised in their journey.

Adopting a balanced lifestyle and raising awareness of health issues are important steps towards achieving harmony between mind and body. By incorporating these sustainability practices into its daily culture, Living Tours aims to provide a full and healthy life for its employees.

However constant the world's new challenges may be, the first step to overcoming them will undoubtedly be to feel well, mentally and physically.
