World Health Day

World Health Day is celebrated annually on April 7 with the aim of promoting everyone's awareness of the importance of health. This date has been organized by the World Health Organization since 1950.

On this day there’s the unique opportunity to alert civil society to key health issues that affect humanity, in addition to developing activities aimed at promoting the well-being of populations, such as promoting healthy lifestyle habits.

Adopting healthy lifestyle habits is a step towards “iron health”. From eating well to practicing physical exercise, there are several measures that can be taken to ensure that well-being prevails. The excuse of not having time to have a healthy life has long since fallen out of favor.

To celebrate World Health Day, I give some practical recomendations, which I apply on my day to day in the search for  living a healthier life.

1st . PRACTICE EXERCISE

The practice of physical exercise is an indispensable point in a healthy lifestyle. Practicing it has several health benefits: it improves cardiovascular and respiratory function, decreases fat mass, increases muscle mass, improves the immune system, delays some aging processes, among others.

2.  SLEEP WELL

A daily routine of drinking plenty of coffees can be your way of sharpening your wits. However, there is nothing to help you as much as a good night's sleep. A rested brain has greater concentration, improving the work of memory and logical reasoning and is vital to be a healthy and motivated individual.

3rd. GOOD FOOD HABITS

A healthy diet is one of the best weapons to fight cardiovascular disease. If you have a heart-healthy diet, it will improve the likelihood of feeling good and staying healthy!

4th. REDUCE SALT CONSUMPTION

Salt can have negative consequences for the body, such  as increased risk of certain types of cancer (such as stomach cancer), hypertension and cardiovascular disease, overload of renal function; or increased fluid retention, with possible weight gain.

5th. HIDRATE

Our organism is composed of 60% water. For it to function properly, it is essential to provide you with the amount of water needed for all organs to function properly.

6th. REDUCE SUGAR CONSUMPTION

Most of the foods we eat are transformed into glucose (or blood sugar) and use the body for energy. Over time, high blood sugar levels can damage the heart, kidneys, eyes and nerves.

7. DON’T SMOKE

I have never been a smoker, but I have smoked socially before. Smokers have a higher risk of developing cardiovascular disease. If you smoke, quitting smoking is the best thing you can do for your health.

8. DRINK IN MODERATION

I believe that:

Responsible consumption is part of the concept of having a balanced life.

Enjoy a little bit of everything, nothing in excess
