Near to Lugo you will find and visit a well-preserved pre-Roman settlement dating from the 3rd to 5th centuries, once inhabited by the Castrexos, the original Galician residents before Roman influence

This wonderfull discovery is ongoing study, offering a glimpse into the history with visible foundations of houses, streets and defensive walls. You can visite and explore this place extensively and complement it with a visit to the Castro Museum.

Approximately 15 km north, near Meira, you will find the Lagoa de Fonmiñá, a lagoon where karstic subterranean waters converge, marking the origin of the Miño river.

The source of the Miño is located about 10km upstream in Pedregal de Irimia duo to a  glacial moraine through a stone funnelThis area is steeped in legends connected to the Miño River, creating an intriguing backdrop to the natural beauty and historical significance of the region.

From these two points, the Miño River will go throughout 350 km to the Galician crossing cities like Lugo and Ourense, leaving spectacular landscapes such as the Ribeira Sacra, full of vineyards and monasteries and ending its last 40 km serving as a natural border between Galicia and Portugal.

Then you can complete the visit in the Castro Museum, offering a didactic and explanatory experience surrounding this archaeological art.

Information: The tour includes pick-up from your hotel in Lugo at around 9:30 am. If you are not staying in Lugo, you can board the tour bus at 10:00 am directly at the meeting point: Plaza de Bretaña.
