Porto Calém Cellars was founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem and, with an influx of more than 235 000 visitors per year, is the most visited cellar in Vila Nova de Gaia. Its location near the emblematic D. Luís I Bridge has also contributed for this large number of visitors.
This visit will take you through the life of the world famous Port Wine, from the harvest of the grapes, to the bottling and aging of the wine itself. You'll learn everything about this exquisite nectar and its place of birth, the Demarcated Douro Region. The tour starts at the museum and continues through the cellars, where the wine ages to perfection and then finishes with a tasting of two varieties of Port Wine, the perfect ending to a complete and explanatory visit.
