Traveling is a Better Experience than Going to School - 6 Reasons

Why do people love to travel all over the world?

The reasons why people love to travel are varied and very personal. From the personal challenge, broadening horizons, building and strengthening relationships, adventure, rest, liking social networks and learning.

Learning

Learning is a strong reason why people love to travel. Personally, we travel because it's like a university your whole life. People with “Wanderlust” never stop learning!

Travelers want to experience something unknown and return with new skills or knowledge.

Seeing the world is more educational than a school or university. This condensed Discovering How the Rest of the World Really Lives course covers areas such as history, geography and sociology. Each destination has something unique to teach visitors and immersing yourself in a completely different place is the ultimate learning experience.

People may travel to learn something specific: a new language, cuisine, different culture, or a deeper appreciation of faith or spirituality. But, as a prize, we all bring more than our initial objective.

We're going to discover totally different ways of doing things. And we will gain an awareness of new customs, cultures, people and places.

And, because we are experiencing this learning in real life, instead of reading it in a textbook, the knowledge stays with us almost for a lifetime. We also have a deep sense of satisfaction with the new perspectives and skills we learn.

6 reasons why traveling is better than going to school

School is the best place to expand our academic knowledge, but when it comes to learning about life, there's nothing more enriching than traveling.

Most of us get our education through textbooks, universities and four corner classrooms. And this path is necessary. But in my opinion, studying needs to be complemented with something very effective, satisfying and fun, like traveling the world.

As an extracurricular activity, a trip will never fail.

1- Traveling teaches History, Geography and Languages

Passionate about history? Reading about the Romans or the Berlin Wall is all well and good, but seeing them in person is something else entirely. Truth be told, what is often represented in history books is just a version of what happened at a certain place and time.

Looking at a map, without ever being aware of distances, does not give us the same perspective as when we measure in hours of flight. And planning a trip alone forces us to study the map of the place in detail. And after looking at the map so much, transport maps, etc., for several days, a lot of information is registered in our brain forever.

English is now widely spoken around the world, and it works wherever we are. But do you have to practice, something you don't do a lot in schools?

2- Traveling teaches the ability to manage time better

We also have deadlines at school. But being slightly late to class costs a scolding, and being slightly late to the airport costs a new ticket or a new trip.

3-Travel helps build confidence

We travel to a new country, far from home. We learn a new language and use it to haggle over prices in the local market. These are things we didn't know we could do before. With travel comes many challenges. And the more challenges we face, the more confident we become.

4- Travel improves planning and organization skills

There are many things we need to plan a great travel experience. We need to organize accommodation, flights, documents, health, luggage, money, food, etc. Traveling helps us to be organized and careful.

5- Travel teaches about gratitude

Traveling often means that we meet all kinds of people. Traveling to a poor country can make us realize how much we really have. Let's meet (and make friends with) people who have so little in life but are happy.

It's easy to forget how lucky we are. We live in a world of abundance and wealth and we often don't fully appreciate what we've been given.

6- Traveling teaches you about interacting socially

Especially these days, when we are so focused on our own “mobile phone” navel, and children spend less time with each other.

While traveling, we meet many people in accommodation, guided tours, cafes, monuments and transport. Whether locals or other travellers. They can be good people, bad people, introverts/extroverts, grumpy or fun people.

The fact that we can communicate will definitely improve our social skills. Compare this to staying at school, where you meet the same people every day, and you can see why traveling is a more valuable learning experience than school.

Happy Travels!
