Are you passionate about what you do?

Do you love what you do? How to discover purpose and passion in your work!

The famous phrase of Confucius who once said “Work with what you love and you will never have to work a day again”. Since then, a chasm has opened between people who work and people who are passionate about what they do.

There seems to be a myth that people who do what they love are 100% happy because they found their purpose. And if for some time you are dissatisfied, frustrated, discouraged or even unwilling to do something, it's because you don't love what you do!

This was a process I went through myself: when I left college I went to work at my parents' company in the metalworking area, but that wasn't my purpose, it wasn't the area that made me get out of bed every day with happiness, despite being well paid and never being afraid of lose the job, I didn't feel like doing what I loved and it didn't bring me happiness, I decided to look for my purpose and what really made me feel happy and love what I was doing, I confess that for me today working is an immense and tireless pleasure.

My tips on how to find what you're passionate about?

1 – Test as much as possible

You only know what you like and don't like if you try. The advantage of Millennials' worldview over others is that they can and should allow themselves to try new projects, new places, new careers. This will give you breadth and help you get closer to what you love.

2 – Always be open-minded

Never let routine consume you to the point where you don't look to the next side. Be open-minded to new possibilities and other directions. In one of these small doors can be a great destiny.

3 – Don't be afraid

Finding something you fall in love with can be held back by the fear of going wrong. Many things can and even should go wrong, but that is not for that reason that something will be left out. Trust and move on.

4 – There is no right age

Age is another issue. Just like in relationships, the right place that awakens our passion can be found early in life. But it could also be something more forward. Never think yourself too old or too young to find your purpose.

5 – Each one has its process

t's great to have examples and people who are inspiring. But it's not because that person has done something in a certain way, that will work for you. Yes, look for inspiration, get insights, but know that everything will happen your way.

But not everything is a bed of roses

If you already have your purpose, something that makes your heart beat faster, an unshakable conviction, it doesn't mean that everything will be a bed of roses.

From now on you will have a motivation, a direction, a goal. But there will always be a lot of tasks that aren't wonderful to do. Not pleasant. Although, they are part of the process.

The myth of doing what you love carries a weight that the person will never again be frustrated or discouraged. Emotions are part of anyone's journey, the difference between those who love what they do and those who don't is the clear purpose and the right direction for what they want to follow.
