New Tour: Arrábida and Comporta Wine Tour

My actions are always motivated in equal proportions by my natural impulse to transform old ways of doing things and my tireless curiosity. In fact, this is how we built the Living Tours Group over the last 20 years.

At the founding of the Living Tours Group, the purpose was always to undertake things with a difference, to show tourists from all over the world the best we have, are and know how to do in Portugal and Spain, we have always wanted to offer new products, innovative things that are out of the box.

This has always been the fuel of our DNA, to undertake with a difference, we are different and we always want to break with the “status quo” and create products and services that add value and that our guests want to use and enjoy, that are impactful and differentiators in the market.

We therefore decided 20 years after our foundation to open our own operation in Lisbon, with a different offer than the existing and innovative one in the Lisbon destination.

We launched the Arrábida and Comporta Wine Tour

This Tour departs from our agency in downtown Lisbon: Rua da Conceição 23 and 25 in Lisbon and after a warm check-in reception by our fantastic Lisbon team, it's time for our perfect hosts and Tour Experts to introduce themselves and start an unforgettable day and experience.

Upon entering our new 9-seater Mercedes vehicles, our Tour begins with a presentation by our Tour Expert and a brief explanation of what will happen throughout the fantastic day that we will have ahead of us together, discovering new and fantastic experiences .

After crossing the 2.27km of the iconic Ponte 25 de Abril, formerly Ponte Salazar from 1958, a road-rail suspension bridge over the Tagus River that connects the city of Lisbon to the city of Almada, we enter the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park with incomparable beauty, where the blue of the sea alternates with the whitish tones of the limestone cliffs and the green of the dense plant cover that covers Serra da Arrábida.

Along the way through the park, we stopped at fantastic and “instagrammable” viewpoints, like this one overlooking Portinho da Arrábida, considered one of the best viewpoints in Portugal.

We continue to visit one of the best fish markets in the world, the traditional Mercado do Livramento in Setúbal, famous for its always fresh fish stalls.

We then have the opportunity to board a ferry that takes us to the magnificent Praia da Comporta, located at the southern end of the Troia Peninsula, with a huge sandy beach and which has become the favorite beach of national and international celebrities.

A driving force behind this recognition was the queen of pop Madonna, who lived in Lisbon from 2017 to 2023 and chose the destination for her summer holidays, and whenever she could, she went to Comporta to enjoy weekends, having done statements to the media such as "Best day ever!", Harrison Ford is constantly seen enjoying cuisine in the town's excellent restaurants.

Being on the limits of the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, this beach is a preserved natural space, where the original dune vegetation is preserved, surrounded by pine forest.

It's time to arrive at Herdade da Comporta, one of the largest national agricultural properties, with more than 12,500 hectares, located in the Sado Estuary natural reserve, with rich flora and fauna, forest, dunes, rice fields, beaches and vineyards. It is a place of unique beauty, where the sun reveals colors of vibrant intensity and the generous earth unhurriedly reveals its best.

Here sensations, smells and flavors mix in perfect harmony with the sea breeze and the green of the forest, constituting an environmental and ecological heritage of inestimable value. On the wine side, the Herdade da Comporta winery uses cutting-edge technology and manual harvesting, which work together to create a perfect balance of flavors and wine experiences.

We participate in a guided tour of the winery, where the history and entire process of producing this estate's spectacular wines are explained to us, ending with a tasting of 3 wines from Herdade da Comporta.

After this wonderful tasting we headed to the Carrasqueira Palafitic Wharf, an “instagrammable” place and an architectural masterpiece. It was built between the 50s and 60s, with irregular and fragile-looking wooden piles. Currently, its objective is to serve as a pier for fishing boats that dock there, with a few hundred meters in which it is possible to stroll and create uniquely beautiful photography and video content.

Here in the small village of Carrasqueira we have time available for lunch, in typical restaurants and simple, traditional spaces, without great luxuries.

True luxury happens between the pots and pans! There is always fresh fish and local delicacies, such as coriander cuttlefish, clams and crab shells. It is all raw material from the estuary next door, and where we can enjoy authenticity and tradition in each dish served here.

After lunch at the Regular Shared Tours, we head to Praia da Comporta where we have free time to enjoy swimming before returning to Lisbon.

In the Private Tour option, we can choose to have free time for diving on the wonderful Comporta beach, or opt for horseback riding in the pine forest and Comporta beach, one of the favorite activities of the celebrity “Madona” when she traveled here. on weekends, as can be seen in their “posts” on social media.

After these activities it is time to return to Lisbon, passing through the Vasco da Gama Bridge, with its 12.3 km long, it is the longest bridge in the European Union, the second longest in Europe after the Crimean Bridge and one of the most extensive in the world.

Arriving in Lisbon, it's time to say goodbye to our perfect LivingTourian hosts and relax with a relaxing bath at the hotel, after this long and magnificent day of a unique and authentic, super enriching experience, in a perfect combination of culture, nature, wines, history, gastronomy and a lot of connection with people and our Tour Experts who make this day unique and exuberant.

The end of the day is enjoyed with dinner in a typical Lisbon restaurant and tomorrow is the day of a new Tour with Living Tours Lisboa.

Make your reservation at our Lisbon Agency or online, and embark on this unforgettable experience!
