Today we celebrate the date of June 10th, 1580, the date of the death of our poet Luís Vaz de Camões, author of the famous “Os Lusíadas”, as well as the day of Portugal, the Portuguese Language and the Portuguese Communities.
The Day of Portugal is also a day to celebrate our purpose Living Tours: Proud and Patriots we show the world the best we have, we are and know how to do in Portugal!
It is from pride in Portugal that the desire to show the world how we live, the best we have, are and know how to do in Portugal was born, being our inspiration to daily show our guests and visitors from all over the world our purpose and our pride in Portugal!
The Kingdom of Portugal was founded in 1139, during the Christian reconquest from the Portucalense county, born between the rivers Minho and Douro. The stabilization of its borders in 1297 made Portugal the European country with the oldest borders.
As a pioneer in maritime exploration in the Age of Discoveries, the kingdom of Portugal expanded its territories between the 15th and 16th centuries, establishing the first global empire in history, with dependencies in Africa, South America, Asia and Oceania.
For this reason, the Day of Portugal, of Camões and of the Portuguese Communities, is celebrated all over the world, by the millions of Portuguese descendants around the world and also by the approximately 5 million Portuguese emigrants who live outside Portugal.
A Happy Day of Portugal , Camões and the Portuguese Communities!
