Full description

When we talk about nature in its pure state, what immediately comes to mind is Madeira Island, which leads to a long list of places with the best natural landscapes. There is nothing better than a walking tour in Levadas to prove the meaning of this phrase.

Let's start with the beautiful Miradouro do Rabaçal, located in the Natural Park of Madeira and on the northwest side of the island. Be amazed by the privileged views offered by this belvedere and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the largest valley of the island covered with Laurissilva forest vegetation. The Rabaçal Valley, is one of the most beautiful in Madeira, and was considered a UNESCO World and Natural Heritage Site.

Descending from an altitude of 1500 metres from the Paúl da Serra plateau, the flattest location in the whole island will reach the Casa de Abrigo do Rabaçal.

Continue the walk towards Levada do Risco which is one of the most frequented by both Madeirans and tourists, where you will find an impressive waterfall that falls from a hundred meters into a lake. Can you imagine this image?

The Levada 25 Fontes is one of the most popular in Madeira Island. Its name does justice to the number of fountains or small waterfalls that can be counted when we arrive at the site. As we get closer, delight yourself with the natural environment that surrounds it. Along the way you can appreciate a wide variety of species of flora and fauna of the region.

The time has come to return, but by a different route so you can capture more stunning images of Madeira Island.

The rabaçal is a unique and magical place and this walk is one of the most popular with visitors to the island. Join the adventure?

Beautifull way walking until the 25 fontes
The path of this walking tour is beautiful and itw as a great idea to take more space for the photos. The walk is easy, no need to be in shape to do it. Our group included people with very diferent ages. Risco waterfall its a obligatory stop on the way, and the 25 Fontes with 25 water streams creates a sensation of distance about everything else. All the way we follow parallel to a Levada which is a human construction taking the water from the higher points of Madeira island to the lowest like Funchal. Worth to do it.

Nice walking in Madeira
This is almost a full day walking through the landscapes of Madeira. It has many points of interest, panoramic views and an interesting botanical diversity. The water falls or streams are of course the highlights of the tour. Our guide had a good knowledge of the nature around and some curious stories of the island. It was a well spended day in the «pearl of the Atlantic »
