Full description

The Palmetum is a botanical garden located in Santa Cruz, Tenerife. The gardens include a large system of waterfalls, streams, and ponds, a museum dedicated to palms, and a display shade house.

There are more than 2000 plants species to be found there, and almost all of those are labelled with important information. Besides the great amount of flora found at Palmetum, many animals live there as well. Not for nothing, this is the best place in Tenerife for birdwatching.

The Palmetum is located on a hilltop on the seafront, giving its visitors great views and memorable landscapes. There are many well-maintained pathways, perfect for a relaxing walk.

Beautiful mother nature
Wonderful surprise to visit this most interesting garden, a must see for cruise ship passengers who dock just a little further down the coast from here. My husband and I visited twice during our holiday. This place was definitely one of my top visits in Tenerife.

A very pleasant surprise
We walked to the Palmetum without really knowing what to expect, and when we arrived we didn't think that it looked that appealing. What was previously a large high rubbish tip in 1970,s is now a large and varied palmetium, with great mixture of trees, flowering shrubs, trees and cacti. We were very pleased that we did. It was a very pleasant couple of hours, with great views and we found the different trees very interesting.

Good choice for spending an afternoon
Beautiful palm garden. All kinds of palms and very green and well maintained botanical garden. Nice place to spend an afternoon and enjoy exotic palms!

Great collection of palms
If you like a palm tree, then this place is worth a visit. Cheap entry too. Had no idea there were so many different types of palm tree. Lovely walk around the gardens and great view of Santa Cruz too.

Yes, you probably should add this experience in your itinerary. This is a great use of former landfill. The park is really beautiful with amazing plants. The views are also great.
