8 Simple Habits to boost your Productivity

Imagine ending the day feeling like you have successfully completed the day's tasks, met deadlines, have free time for family and/or friends, and still energized. Does it seem impossible? Do you feel like time flies, and you weren’t able to accomplish everything on your list? It's a reality that most people feel they haven't been productive enough, and even worse, feel exhausted and unmotivated.

If this is your case, here are 8 simple tips that can help improve productivity in your daily life:

1. Have a healthy sleep routine
People who sleep poorly have more difficulty maintaining concentration and are easily distracted. Make sleep a priority: Set a consistent sleep schedule: go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time; avoid caffeinated or stimulating drinks after lunch, turn off the TV and electronics (cellphones, laptops or tablets) at least one hour before going to bed. Remember that getting enough sleep is vital for our overall health and wellbeing.

2. Avoid checking your phone right after waking up
Browsing the internet and social media first thing in the morning is an incredible way to kill the day's momentum. Overloading the brain with unnecessary cortisol and dopamine in the morning can have negative effects on emotional well-being and make you feel sluggish for the rest of the day. This leads to more stress, more anxiety, and more scattered focus.
Try this: after waking up, spend at least 30 minutes without using your mobile phone.

3. Drink water, hydrate your body every day
A glass of water in the morning:

• Helps the body recover from overnight dehydration.
• Provides energy to the brain and increases focus, concentration, and memory by 40%.
• Speeds up metabolism by 30% and aids in weight loss.
• Facilitates nutrient absorption.
• Alleviates fatigue and increases readiness to start the day.

When it comes to productivity, hydration is crucial. The human brain is predominantly composed of water (73%); therefore, being hydrated is essential for maintaining an optimal level of brain activity. Establish a habit to drink water regularly!

4. Make your bed before leaving home
It's a simple task that has several benefits:

• You are less likely to get back into a freshly made bed.
• It's a 3- to 4-minute task that gives you a sense of completing your first task of the day and, therefore, a sense of accomplishment.
• It keeps the space organized and promotes a calm mind.

5. Exercise regularly
Regular physical exercise increases self-confidence, improves mood, helps to relax and increases concentration. Try to exercise in the morning to enjoy the benefits throughout the day.

6. Get some sunlight
Sunlight improves mood, energises our body, syncs our biological rhythm, and strengthens the immune system. Whether it's winter or summer, take advantage of the sun's rays (in moderation, of course!). Whenever possible, take a walk for at least 10 minutes a day. If you are sensitive to sunlight, get vitamin D from a combination of diet and supplements.

7. Make a daily to-do list
Ideally, you should plan for the week. But if you don't have that habit yet, start by organizing your day the night before. Make a list of tasks, set priorities, and write everything down. This way, you can clear your mind of the little things that only increase anxiety and better adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Give it a try!

8. Stop multitasking
Multitasking generates stress in our daily lives and negatively affects productivity. People bombarded with multiple streams of activities do not pay attention to any of them. Stop trying to do everything at once, focus on one task at a time, starting with the most important one.

There are many more tips to be productive and feel much better! Being productive means doing more with less, finding a balance between effort and benefit, managing time effectively, and, above all, achieving results more efficiently, both in professional and personal life.

We hope that with these simple tips, you can reflect and think of other ways to improve your productivity. The reality is that change needs to come from within you. Therefore, you can strive to have good days at work, communicate more effectively, maintain a healthy diet, understand the importance of relaxation after work, and much more.
