The Sintra National Palace, situated in the historical center of the village, is one of the most important monuments of the town, by its architectural and artistic historical value.
Built in the middle ages, the former Royal Palace keeps its essence well preserved to this day, being a very well known on a tourist and cultural level. It has different architectural styles: medieval, Gothic, Manueline, Renaissance and romantic.
The Sintra National Palace was home of the Portuguese royal family almost to the end of the Portuguese Monarchy in 1910.
After this visit, we will go to the historic center of Sintra, to explore the narrow streets, full of history and regional stores.
We will pass in the Roca Cape* - the westernmost point of Continental Europe, on the Atlantic Ocean. The Cabo da Roca was even described by the most famous Portuguese writer, Luís Vaz de Camões, in his epic poem "Os Lusíadas" (in English: “The Lusiads”), as the place "where the land ends and the sea begins". Then, there is also a lighthouse, a stone monument, and a tourist shop.
We will return to Lisbon through Cascais, a village known for its closeness and intrinsic connection to the sea and the ocean. There is the Guincho Beach, a popular beach for surf, kitesurf and windsurf fans.
