Full description

The half-day tour by van offers panoramic views and explores the coastal zone of the Terceira island.

The tour can be done in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the timetable that you choose.

In the morning, the tour starts in the historical center of Angra do Heroísmo, visiting Monte Brasil, the volcano next to the city, passing the historical monuments. Then, along with the eastern side of the south coast, we will pass by the Ilhéus das Cabras, an underwater volcano, as well as the parish of Porto Judeu, where the Holy Spirit is celebrated, one tradition of the Terceira Island.

Following the Bay of Salga, where the first battle with the Spanish happened, following the bay of Ponta das Contendas, where the invasion took place. Going up to the village of São Sebastião, we will visit the first church to be built on the island, as well as the adjacent Empire, illustrative of the island's traditions. It follows the Serra do Cume, the northern wall of the island's largest super volcano, from where we can see the enigmatic Manta dos Retalhos. Descending to Praia da Vitória, we will discover the other county of the Island, with the largest ocean port. Going to the north coast, we visit the Biscoitos parish, known for the wine production, where we have the possibility to taste the wine as well as try the natural pools.

If the tour is held in the afternoon, we will begin by visiting the historical center of Angra do Heroísmo, as well as its adjacent volcano, Monte Brasil. From there, we continue to the fishing village of São Mateus, where we can observe the fishing port. Following the west side of the south coast, we visit the cheese factory, where we can taste the cheeses produced there. Climbing to the interior of the island, we will make a brief stop at Lagoa das Patas, a recreation area, to enjoy nature, where a convivial zone was incorporated. Following the north coast, we visit the natural pools of Biscoitos, a natural lava formation, which expands in several enclosures with salt water. Returning to the interior of the island, we continue the visit to the Algar do Carvão, an empty volcano, which allows us to see its interior.

incredible
I can't speak highly enough of the half-day van tour of Terceira Island. I opted for the afternoon tour and was thoroughly impressed with the sights and experiences it offered. Starting in Angra do Heroísmo, we explored historical sites, enjoyed a cheese tasting at a local factory, and marveled at the natural pools of Biscoitos. The visit to Algar do Carvão was a unique opportunity to see the island's geological wonders. The tour guide's expertise and enthusiasm added an extra layer of enjoyment. Whether you choose the morning or afternoon option, this tour is a fantastic way to discover the beauty and culture of Terceira Island.

The Green Terceira island
One of the best ways to visit the terceira island. Beautiful green landscapes, panoramic viewpoints. We also visit some small villages which had a more cultural touch to this experience. It takes about half day that passes very quicly. Nice work of the driver and guide.
