Visit the ancient city of Segovia, located in the region of Castile and León, only 90 km from Madrid.
It is known for its cultural riches, that come from the mix of the history of three people - Christians, Muslims, and Jews.
The city was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985, for its preservation of architectural works of art! Its roman aqueduct, 16 km long, is considered one of the most important roman civil engineering constructions of the entire Iberic Peninsula.
Visit the Plaza Mayor, where the Cathedral of Segovia is located. For those who choose that option, enjoy a guided tour in the Cathedral! If not, have the opportunity to visit the shops of the city to take small souvenirs home!
Know the Jewish district - la Judería, an area locked away by seven gates since 1481. This district is composed of synagogues, castles, and museums! See also the Islamic fortification, the Alcázar, that inspired the famous Walt Disney to design the Cinderella Castle!
After this well passed morning, return to Madrid!
Toledo PM:
Start this tour in Madrid and go to Toledo. This magnificent city is the capital of Castilla and León, located 70 km from Madrid.
This city, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, is known for its unique artistic beauty, a result of a mix of all the architectonic styles of history (Muslim, Gothic, Mudéjar, Renaissance and Baroque). It is known by many titles, among them "Imperial City", "Glory of Spain" and, perhaps the most famous one, "The City of Three Cultures". The latter is due to the living between Christians, Muslims, and Jews in harmony.
Have the opportunity to visit the exterior of the Toledo Cathedral, one of the most impotent Gothic Cathedrals of Spain. Built in the 13th century, it is also a mixture of architectonic arts, with Muslim and baroque elements.
Find in the Santo Tomé Church the most known work of art of El Greco, "The Burial of the Count of Orgaz", and visit the Santa María de la Blanca, built in 1180. It still stands today as a museum opened to the public.
Continue with a visit to the interior to the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, a Franciscan monastery belonging to the Isabelline style.
