Begin this full-day adventure with pick-up at your accommodation on our comfortable, air-conditioned minivan. Enjoy the views from this exciting trip towards the heart of Douro Wine Region. Learn all about Port Wine and the Douro Region History as you have the opportunity to visit two well-known Wine Estates.

Have a stop is Amarante a small charming city. One of the most ancient settlements in northern Portugal, that blends ancient, Roman, medieval, and Renaissance influence into a delightful place.

Douro Valley's unique landscape is the result of the efforts of the people, who prepare the land and the vineyards until the time of harvest. Be amazed by endless opportunities to take stunning pictures of the region. Did you know that the Douro Valley is a World Heritage Site, since 2001? You will definitely understand why. Fall in love with the wonderful views that the different viewpoints ("miradouros") offer you.

This is a land of wine producers, so we've selected two Wine Estates where you will understand the whole technological process of winemaking. This is the place where a special set of vineyards are nurtured, where the winemaking process occurs. Only the exquisite quality of grapes combined with the perfect climate of the region can originate a genuine character to this special wine!

What remains to be said? Let's dive into a tasting experience with the tasting Port and Douro (table) wines.
In the first vineyard, you will be tasting 3 different wines.
There is more to discover in the second vineyard, where a variety of 5 wines will be served, surrounded by a truly welcoming environment: the vineyards of the Douro!

Although it is a region known mainly for its delicious wines, we can not forget its singular gastronomy. The strong flavours and fresh ingredients are two visible features of the region. Also, this tour included a panoramic Douro river cruise (regular basis shared with other participants), in the village of Pinhão. Fantastic!

What a wonderful way to spend the day! Even though it was cool and rainy we had a fantastic time. Our guide was wonderful - he took good care of us, showed us all around the valley, and answered all of our questions. Everyone we encountered (at the wineries, lunch,and on the boat ride) was so nice and friendly. Highly recommend!

Not to be missed

This tour was outstanding. After spending several days in Lisbon and then the Algarve, we didn't think Portugal could get better. Wrong. This was the best yet. A ten hour tour, two wineries and a fabulous lunch in a traditional manor house, not to mention the boat ride and spectacular Vistas, all was more than we could hope for. George was the best guide we can imagine. Do this tour.

Amazing Tour

Goncalo picked us up right on time and drove us to the Valley while telling us about history, geography, and wine. Lots of information we did not know. He was an amazing guide. The Pedro Milanos Winery was wonderful. A very small family run winery that is lovely with great wine. From there we went to a small town to a rustic restaurant. Lunch was incredible with food prepared over wood fires in an ancient kitchen. Served with wines of the house. Finished with the port of house. From there we were taken to a pontoon boat tour out of Pinhao. Port tonic a refreshing drink while the guide told us about the area. My only complaint was that it was not long enough because of how long we stayed for lunch. Then a visit to Quinta da Foz for another tasting of five wines. The port being the best because of dark chocolate being served with it. Will do this tour again with our other guests.

Nothing but the best from the tour & our guide, Paolo! Very accommodating, kind, knowledgeable and unique spots. Wineries were beautiful and all the spots along the way and on the river boat were perfect! This is a must do from Porto and highly recommend Living Tours!

So much Fun!

Our tour of the Douro Valley was truly outstanding. The tours and wine tasting at Seara de Ordem and at Quinta do Frades were wonderful. The lunch at Cada do Negrilho was absolutely scrumptious and the hosts (thank you Antonio!) were unbelievably friendly. Also loved the music- Anna Moura, Amalia Rodrigues. The cruise with Pasquale was fun and educational-he is the nicest pirate I know :). Our guide, Paulo Rodrigues was very friendly, knowledgeable, professional and a great driver! Thanks so much!

The most perfect day!! Duoro Valley from Porto

Our full day experience of the Duoro Valley with Anna Nunis was absolute perfection. Anna was punctual, patient, knowledgeable and a simply a wonderful person to spend the day with. Great Day in the Douro

Our private tour in the Douro valley was exactly what we were looking for; wonderful scenery, wineries, local food and a very knowledgeable guide. George, our guide, spoke perfect english, was punctual, was extremely well versed in the history of they area and was steeped in local insight. On top of that, he was absolutely a great person. Highlight of our Vacation!

Our private Douro Valley wine tour with our wonderful guide Paolo was the absolute highlight of our already amazing 10-day stay in Portugal. We created such beautiful and lasting memories on this very special adventure. The Douro Valley is gorgeous and every component of our tour was perfect. Our guide Paolo was genuinely interested in learning about us, our experience with wine, and what it would take to create an unforgettable day for us. He was a wealth of information on the history of the area, surprising us with an unexpected stop in the quaint village of Amarante on our way to our 1st scheduled wine tasting. The rest of the day flew by with visits to two different Quintas (wineries), a private and mouthwatering lunch in the lovely garden of a rustic restaurant with the most hospitable host ever, and a boat ride on the tranquil Douro river. Every setting was stunning and included tastings of delicious ports and table wines. Having never booked a private tour before, we really didn’t know what to expect, but it far exceeded any expectations we might have had. We felt so pampered and will truly cherish our memories of this special experience.

Would thoroughly recommend

Tiago and Claudio were our hosts for the day trip from Porto into the Douro Valley. Tiago kept us entertained whilst Claudio kept the bus on the road around the tight bends through the spectacular countryside and mountain ranges where the grape vines for Port, Muscatel and Portuguese table wines gently spend the summer months. The lunch at the fabulous restaurant overlooking the valley had traditional Portuguese fair which lay the foundations for the tasting session that followed the boat trip at a Portal quinta.

One of the best tours we've done

The van was sooo comfy and modern. We did the winery one. We expected to taste two wines in two wineries. We had around 7 haha. Lunch was fantastic. Views of the valley were breathtaking. And most of all our tour guide Nuno (sorry for the spelling) and the driver were super attentive and full of information. Definitely give it a go! They have better promotions than most other tours we saw.

Just to advise you that our Duoro Valley tour that we took today was fantastic! Our guide Francisco was extremely knowledgeable, and our driver Luias negotiated the winding roads with ease! The lunch was excellent and the winery (Sandeman) was extremely professional.

Excellent tour

My wife and I wound up staying in Porto an extra day, and we're so glad we did! Our guide Sophie was a great source of info (and of course some jokes), and we were able to see 2 wineries and a traditional baker, as well as the panoramic river cruise. I was expecting the river cruise to be guided, but they let the amazing scenery speak for itself. The lunch meal is still one of the top 3 most memorable form our whole trip, and the bottomless wine definitely helped make new friends :)

Great service

Choice of wineries was great, and the 1 hour rabelo cruise was just right. The guide was good, but we particularly appreciated his initiative and effort in organising a vegetarian meal for us, which turned out to be excellent, and also trying to play country-specific music for us on the radio in the car
