Therefore, your local and expert guide will lead you through the city and introduce you to its highlights. Get familiarised with some of the famous monuments like the São. Bento Railway Station, which has twenty thousand tiles painted by hand, that illustrate events of Portuguese history.

Then learn more about the Porto Cathedral, and the religious history of Porto once ruled by the power of the church – the Bishop of the city. Continue to Batalha Square where the majestic National Theatre São João is located and explore the local trade and shops there.

Meet the city hall in Avenida dos Aliados, one of the main avenues in town, a location of excellence where the people of Porto gather to celebrate special times. Admire the façade of famous Lello Bookshop (entrance not included) with its magnificent staircase linking it to the upper floor. The architecture of this bookshop inspired the Hogwarts staircase in J. K. Rowling's book series “Harry Potter”.

In the same area, see the Clérigos Tower with a panoramic view of the city and the Douro River, which makes the 240 steps climb worth the effort (entrance not included).

Walk down to a viewpoint and lose yourself in the narrow and historical streets downhill to the Stock Exchange Palace

Finally, find the river essence as you reach Ribeira, with the Typical Rabelo Boats and the well-known Port Wine Cellars. Above the river, find the unique D. Luiz I bridge, with 395 meters long and 8 meters wide, and its arch is considered the biggest iron arch. Nowadays is the city mark.

This Walking tour is the perfect reception and a very warm welcome for a first visit.

A wonderful overview
I spent two days in the city of Porto, and decided to do a free walking tour. After the quick internet booking, I went to the indicated point and found the responsible ones. The boat tour is very quiet and lasts about 50 minutes. It can be done whenever we want and at the time we want

An unforgettable guided tour
If you are looking for a tour to know the history and curiosities of the city of Porto I recommend Living Tours. The guide was from the area of Porto, so he had a lot of knowledge about the place. He also gave several tips for very good restaurants.
