Full description

Begin your full day tour departing from Barcelona in a comfortable bus to reach the overwhelming Montserrat Mountain! This natural beauty reaches majestically a height of 1236 meters! The rocks of Montserrat are a natural sand cement that for centuries have been modified by wind and rain, which is why they have such a strange and varied shape. The locals attribute human and animal forms in some of its peaks, giving them names and inventing legends to explain their fantastic origin.

Alongside with your professional guide, you will have the opportunity to visit The Royal Basilica of Montserrat, which houses the Romanesque carving of the 12th century, the Verge Moreneta (the Black Madonna). The Benedictine Sanctuary of Montserrat was founded in 1025 and offers a mystical backdrop to the Virgin of Montserrat, patron saint of Catalonia, who is consecrated in the Royal Basilica of the Monastery. The small monastery soon began to receive pilgrims and visitors who have contributed to the dissemination of stories of miracles and wonders performed by the Virgin.

Enter the audiovisual room where images of the history and creation of the monastery are projected. Now, let’s take a short walk to the hermitage of Sant Benet, dedicated to the Benedictine founder, Saint Benedict of Nursia, who lived in the 5th century and who founded the first monastic centre in Europe in Montecassino.

La escolanía de Montserrat” is a famous children's choir in Montserrat and is one of the oldest choir in Europe (born in the 14th century). The days that they are performing, you will be able to admire their magnificent performances. The calendar of performances is subject to the school calendar and to special events of the choir and the monastery.

Time to an exclusive visit to the Sacristy that was built by the architect Francesc Folguera and consists of a hall, a spacious room with wardrobes and a small apse. In the lobby, there is a sarcophagus and the statue, a bronze by Joaquim Ros, of the Venerable Fra Josep de San Benet, a monk deceased in 1723 with a reputation as a saint. Josep Obiols with biblical allegories of the Eucharist and representations of Christmas, Easter and Pentecost decorate the whole vault, in a concrete idealism.

There will be a short walk to the hermitage of Sant Benet, dedicated to the Benedictine founder, Saint Benedict of Nursia, who lived in the 5th century and founded the first monastic centre in Europe in Montecassino.

It’s time to an outdoors moment! A delicious brunch composed of three typical “tapas” with a glass of white wine, red wine and “cava” (typical sparkling wine of Catalonia) is waiting for you!

Add more flavor to your guided tour with four liquors taste, handmade by the monks of the monastery!
