SCHEDULE
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 8.30 a.m.
We’ll start this full day off-road tour at the bay in the southeast coast of Madeira, where the Portuguese moored in 1419 when they reached the Madeira Island. Back then the indigenous laurisilva groves covered the island, which inspired the explorers to name the island “Madeira” (wood).
You’ll walk through the ancient royal paths, a set of dirt roads that were used to connect the different regions of the island and to transport people and merchandise.
Passing through the island, these tracks offer the most amazing views over the unique Madeira’s landscapes, with terraces moulding the mountain and every shade of green colouring these images.
The tracks cut through the indigenous Laurissilva Forest a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, where nature is queen and has survived for almost five centuries of humanization.
Riding in an off-road vehicle, you’ll pass authentic rural villages where a simpler way of life is evident and which will leave you speechless.
In this tour you will learn all about local culture and traditions, and marvel at the magnificent sceneries that the island has to offer.
Going from sea level to the highest mountains of Madeira, this trip is the perfect way to explore this paradise in the Atlantic.
