Full description

The tour starts at 09:00h heading to Santoña, where Monte Buciero is located, a rocky massif that juts out into the sea.

During our journey, we will cross the Natural Park of Las Marismas de Santoña, Victoria and Joyel. One of the most biologically diverse enclaves in Spain and a gift for the eyes. We will also cross the Santoña sea promenade, to leave the vehicle there and start our ascent to Monte Buciero, a spectacular enclave for its ecosystem, lighthouses, cliffs and high-value heritage elements. In truth, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the Cantabrian coast and also a refuge for many of the birds that pass through the marshes and use it as a breeding place. Mount Buciero has three summits (all with a height of more than 300 m), from any of them we can contemplate the most exceptional panoramic views over the city of Santoña, the beach of Berria and the entire Asón estuary.

The route is a little demanding due to the Lighthouse of the Horse. We will have to climb half hour by a path of irregular stones and then go down some stairs of 760 steps, that afterwards, we will have to climb! During the tour, we will make several stops to enjoy the scenery. Our longest stop will be at the Lighthouse of the Horse where we will eat something we brought (water and food not included) and thus gain strength for the climb back from the stairs. Then we will continue towards the Fisherman's Lighthouse, which will continue until we get to see the beach of Berria and the criminal El Dueso. The neighborhood of this same name is accessed later. After crossing a park and a sports track, follow the path on the left to El Mazo Fort, also known as "de Napoleón", from which you can see magnificent views of the marshes of Santoña and its town.
