Full description

Discover ancient Roman Barcelona with our expert local guide. This part of the city is one of the oldest, dating back over 2,000 years.

Let your imagination run wild, as we recreate the Roman Forum in modern-day Plaça de Sant Jaume, which even now remains the seat of political power in Catalonia. This is also the main venue for the annual celebration of Patron Saint’s Day, with a popular local spectacle called Castellers (Human Towers).

Walk along one of the world's best preserved Roman walls and imagine the therapeutic spas once present at the Roman Baths of Pati Llimona.

Enjoy the unique architecture and impressive monumental buildings of the Gothic Quarter. Take in the emblematic Plaça del Rei, home to the Palace of the Viceroy and the beautiful Palau Reial Major. It was on the stairs of this palace that the explorer Christopher Columbus was greeted upon return from his first voyage to the Americas.

Observe the city’s most famous churches, the Barcelona Cathedral and Santa Maria del Mar, which is the ultimate expression of pure Catalan Gothic style. Santa Maria del Mar is well known for having been built very quickly, considering its monumental size.

This is due to the participation of thousands of inhabitants from the Born district. The Born neighbourhood is full of wonderful surprises just waiting to be discovered. You are sure to enjoy its cheerful energy, trendy bars, exceptional restaurants and small boutiques.

A really great tour
The tour was great. I liked the pace, the information, and the humor. We covered all the sites I was hoping for.

Walking in Barcelona
Our walking tour started on time and itw as during the morning. The streets were not crowded so our group could easily follow the guide and listen the info given. Manuel (our guide) was a bit shy but he knew a lot about the city history. He also knew some useful tips like best places to eart or to go out at night within the quarter. The détails on the houses, the gothic architecture never cease to amaze us. we ent to the Eulalia cathedral, the church of Santa Maria, kings square, Palau Episcopal and one or two places more I don´t remenber the name. It was a full tour and I recomend it.

Do it in the morning
I realy advise anyone who wants to do this walking tour to do it on the early morning before the streets get full. One can listen better the guide and have a more complete vision of this unique and full of history quarter. If you want to know a city follow your feets.

Dobré chvíle a levné
Bylo pro nás potěšením udělat si s tímto průvodcem Pedro. Dozvěděli jsme se příběhy za zdmi barcelony a překročili jsme mnoho zajímavých míst v gotické čtvrti.

Tour a piedi interessante
