Discover in this walking tour the most emblematic buildings from the Renaissance and Baroque period in Madrid.
Habsburg is the name given to Madrid when the Habsburg dynasty reigned in Spain. This reign began with Charles I, who enriched the city with palaces and monuments. Later on, Philip II made it the capital of Spain and the city grew dramatically.
The journey through the Renaissance and Baroque style buildings of this era is perhaps one of the most picturesque and representative of Madrid.
During the walking tour, we will stop at one of the most emblematic cafes of this Madrid popular area to offer you a drink.
We will continue our tour by exploring one of the most important museums in the world: the Prado Museum.
The Museo Nacional del Prado opened for the first time to the public in 1819. The first catalog consisted of 311 paintings, although by then the Museum already saved 1510 works from the Royal Sites.
The most valuable Royal Collections, the germ of the collection of the current Prado Museum, began to take shape in the sixteenth century. There are very emblematic treasures that can be seen today in the Prado, such as El Bosco's Garden of Delights, El Greco's Chest of the Hand, Las Meninas de Velázquez or Carlos IV's family of Goya.
