Full description

After a small briefing with tips and tricks about the tour and the mountain bike, we will start at Poiso (Alt.1400 m / 4593 feet) with a small and easy uphill. Then and after the guide's suggestion based on the skills of the riders, we have the possibility to ride in some easy single trails or to continue on the road and dirt roads until we get to the levada (water channel).

From here (Alt.850 m / 2788 feet) it is a 20 km (12 miles) relaxed ride along the levada where we will be surrounded by a beautiful mixture of laurel, eucalyptus and pine trees. Near the village Camacha we will stop for a cold drink and a light lunch in a very typical bar.

After the stop, we continue through the levada that crosses the colourful village of Camacha, before we start our final ride o more or less 10 km (6 miles) of smooth road, all the way down back to the starting point that only requires the effort of fingers on the brakes, but always with a great view over the ocean.

This tour is suitable for riders in good health with basic biking skills and for all kinds of Hard tail and Full-suspension bikes.
You must know how to ride a bike and have the adequate physical and technical level required for this tour.
Madeira is a steep island, therefore it is not possible to avoid all the steep dirt and asphalt roads in Madeira, so good control of the brakes is important.
A minimum of 2 people is required for this tour. If you wish to book the tour for only 1 person, please contact us and we will find the best solution for you.
Our tours can be changed and personalized to improve the overall group experience.
The weather conditions may restrict the activities.
To ensure the safety of each participant, please follow the instructions given by your tour guide.
Possibility of free transfer from/to hotels in Funchal, Caniço de Baixo and Santa Cruz.
For this activity it is necessary to bring a jacket, water, snacks and a small amount of money for lunch.

It was a good experience with a mix of a moderate trail and exceptional views. Without the guide we could not discover some of the places. During the course there are some obstacles that we easily get around. Bicycles are suitable for this type of riding.

We were a group of six people. It was our first tour in Madeira and we loved it. The guide gave us time to rest, we could stop whenever we wanted. We had time to enjoy the scenery and to take some pictures. This was only possible because our group was small. The bikes were well maintained and all equipment provided was clean such as helmets and gloves.
