Lovely cruise and views from the river. Disappointing lunch.

The cruise was lovely with great views of the quintas from the boat and the crew were friendly and helpful. Going through the lock at the dam was an interesting experience. Unfortunately though, the lunch was far from delicious and very disappointing. We have eaten some very good tasty meals while in Portugal. Some simple and some more refined but all of them very tasty and excellent quality. The lunch was tasteless, the meat was over cooked and tough. We did not eat much of it. Although we would book a cruise again we would not select one with a meal. If we were to choose again we would take the one way cruise from Regua to Pinhao and return by train.

A relaxing experience

I was expecting a light lunch for our group of six people (3 adults and 3 young children) but the meal consisted of an appetizer, two bottles of wine (one white and one red), a main dish and a dessert. The music on board created a festive ambiance. The views from the Douro were amazing! Thank you!

Great Scenic Trip

Lovely trip to see the Douro River. It is a great tour of the more mid-River parts of the Douro. We were staying in Resende and drove upriver to Regua, which is where the cruise departs. The boat is large and has sufficient room both on deck and below deck to hold everyone. As we went up the river the crew served wine (white, red &white port) with a nice lunch. Below deck was air conditioned which was nice because it was in the 90’s (F) during the trip. So you could see the scenery in comfort. Part of the trip is going through a lock located about 15 minutes from Regua. The midpoint of the cruise is Pinhao where we had one hour to look about. From Pinhao we returned to Regua. The whole cruise lasted almost 6 hours. I would definitely recommend this cruise.

Pictures Don't Do It Justice

We took this tour in early July on a hot sunny day. Although there is air conditioning, it was a little uncomfortable in the dining area as people kept entering and leaving and not closing the door behind them (although the coordinator kept reminding us). That really was the only negative. The lunch was lovely and the views of the valley from the boat were overwhelming- pictures online do NOT do the views justice. The tour was narrated in 3 languages (although more were offered there were only Portuguese, English, and Spanish speakers on board). The experience of the lock was tremendous- the sheer ingenuity and labor involved was humbling). We were given an hour in Pinhão to sight see (enough time to check out the beautiful train station, take obligatory photos in front of the large block PINHAO sign, and pick up a couple of souvenirs). We thoroughly enjoyed the experience but agreed that we would return only during the cooler months

Jako milovníci přírody připravujeme naši cestu do Portugalska při hledání nejlepších míst k návštěvě. po nějakém pěší turistice v gerech bylo naší další volbou užít si plavbu po slavné řece douro z regua. moc se těšíme na vyneyardech na břehu řeky. chtěli jsme mít více času v pinhao, ale nebylo to možné a vlak na regua končí brzy. Obecně se nám líbí výlet lodí a program prohlídky

Enjoying Douro from the river

We stayed in regua a couple of nights and we took this cruise to Pinhao to enjoy a douro valley panoramic view. We took the longest, its perfect to relax and have a lunch abord with nice crew. then we took about an hour visiting pinhao which is a lovely village, almost lost in the valley. On the way back my wife was like crazy taking hundreds of photos. we had fun and lucky with the sunny day.
