Then you will have the opportunity to visit the Camí de Ronda, which leads to the village of Llafranc, which means walking for about 30 minutes on a path easily accessible for all ages.
The "Camí de Ronda" borders the whole Costa Brava and has been used to control the maritime contabando. Today, thanks to this, you will be able to see magnificent places that would otherwise not be accessible. Llafranc is also a small, elegant and captivating seaside village.
Pals, to be visited next, is an inland village located on top of a mountain. The village is built entirely within a medieval wall. At the top, you will find a 12th century tower, which is visible from afar. It has a magnificent patio that offers a wonderful view over the Costa Brava and its surroundings. Walking on its medieval streets, you will think you have travelled back in time.
The next visit is l'Estartit, a seaside town with an important port, as well as a diving centre on the Medas Islands, which are 1 km from the coast. The Medas Islands are of great interest in terms of flora and fauna, with over 1200 classified species. The ecosystem has been identified as the best marine reserve in the Western Mediterranean. It has been declared a National Natural Park and ZEPIM (specially protected area of importance in the Mediterranean).
You will have free time to have lunch and walk around the village before boarding the Nautilus, a boat with underwater vision. The boat trip takes about 1h30. First, you will see the outer islands. The views are spectacular through the immersed cabins with large windows, you can see the marine life in the foreground as if you were diving. The itinerary continues to the Sierra de Montgrí, only accessible by boat.
The last stop will be the extensive Greek-Roman ruins of Empúries, with the company of a specialized guide, you will take a guided tour of the entire archaeological site, the only one in Spain where the remains of a Greek city coexist with those of a later Roman city. Empúries is located in a privileged place in front of the sea.
In the Greek city, it is possible to admire the walls, the acropolis, the market square, among other buildings. Outside this archaeological site, you can see the Roman port of the 1st century before Christ. It was in this port that, in 1992, the Olympic torch for the Barcelona Olympic Games arrived.
