An excursion that will allow you to know in one day some of the most emblematic places and unparalleled beauty of the Costa Brava, as well as having the chance to visit the Dalí Theater-Museum in Figueres.
The first stop will be at Calella de Palafrugell, a small fishing village of great beauty both in architecture and landscape, all dotted with small coves. You will have free time to visit the town, enjoy the scenery and take out some excellent photographs. Then you will start an itinerary on foot along the Camino de Ronda, which will take you to the neighbouring town of Llafranc. It is also another small, elegant and captivating seaside town, with all the charms of the towns of this coast.
Next, you will visit Pals, a town located in the interior of Costa Brava and on the top of a hill. The town is integrated almost entirely within a striking medieval set. The enclosure is crowned by a cylindrical tower of the 12th century, visible from afar, and which is offered as a wide terrace with unbeatable panoramic views of the Costa Brava and its surroundings. Go back in time!
At Figueres, the next stop, you will have free time to eat and to visit the Theatre-Museum Dalí that houses the largest art collection of Salvador Dalí, from its origins to its artistic maturity considered the summit of Spanish surrealism.
The museum is located in what had been the old village that Dalí knew from his childhood. The building was seriously damaged during the Civil War and remained in ruins until 1960 when Dalí chose it as the seat of his museum. After a short introduction about the history of the museum and the life and career of Dalí, you will have free time to visit it on your own.
A bizarre and amazing mix of the weird and great creations of this genius, the Dali Museum is the second most visited museum in Spain. Some highlights of the Dali Museum are The Fishmongers' Hall holding Dalí oils, including the Soft Self-Portrait with Fried Bacon and also the Picasso's representation by Dali himself, and the Mae West Room, on the top of the stairs filled with golden Oscars, where you can see Dalí's painting of his version of the Sistine Chapel in the Palace of the Wind Room.
You can also see the portrait of Abraham Lincoln, the collection of jewels designed by Dalí and his famous red sofa shaped as human lips and many more out of the box artistic creations.
