DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL

Quinta do Bomfim, Pinhão

Full description

Quinta do Bomfim, a family estate located in the heart of the Upper Douro Valley, is the birthplace of two of the 21st century’s most famous Port Wines: Dow’s 2007 Vintage Port and the Dow’s 2011 Vintage Port.

The tour begins in a small museum which tells the story of the property, the family and the wines. Then you’ll choose between three vineyard walks and enjoy excellent views of the surrounding mountain vineyards, some with dry stone terraces built by hand in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The visit includes the old lodge built in 1896. This vast vat and barrel cellar, with its extraordinarily complex roof-structure, has been used for over one hundred years to hold all the Port Wines from every harvest at the estate before they are taken downriver to Vila Nova de Gaia for further maturing

During the harvest, you can see the grapes being received at the winery and Port being made in the lagares.

At the wine tasting you have the opportunity to try 2 ruby and 1 tawny 10 years old.

Non è la prima volta che visito questa azienda e mi sorprende sempre. È bellissimo, la visita molto divertente, la magnifica degustazione e il negozio, gli spettacoli. Consiglio vivamente la visita.

Bomfim Estate
The framework is incomparable. Kilometers and kilometers of vineyards cared for with much love. If you add to this the experience of a great visit to state-of-the-art facilities with a unique guide, what more can you ask for? Everything in Quinta do Bomfim is harmonious and beautiful, it is not only the enclave in the famous Alto Douro (World Heritage Site) but every detail and care of each plot, each vineyard and each plant that will give us the best possible grapes. The winery and the different rooms are perfectly equipped for the enjoyment of the visitor and to start tasting is to end up in love with the wines of Porto.

wonderful surroundings
Guided tour of the winery with a presentation of it very interesting and very well explained by the guide. The farm that is visited as well as the facilities, are very well preserved and prepared to receive visitors. There are also multiple options for different types of visits, including visits to the vineyards and tastings of different types of wine from which the producer markets (from whites to reds, of course reaching portos, with a wide range of vintages). In our case, the visit was managed by Marta, an excellent professional. The area is beautiful and the terrace is wonderful

beautiful farmhouse and very beautiful views
We went to the last visit in the afternoon, only 4 people. Its wines have an attractive and distinctive dry finish that is the recognizable seal of this great Port house. The story began in 1798, when Bruno da Silva, a Portuguese merchant from Porto, settled in London from where he imported wine from his home country. Super nice and interesting. Porto wines very good and the table ones, very good. Beautiful winery and interesting explanations of the guide
