Today we have two activities for you: a canoeing ride and a tour to Terra Nostra. The canoeing is a must-do experience on the island of the Azores. Start this activity by the Westside of the Furnas lake and enjoy the serenity of this wonderful place. The highlight of the trip is to reach the place where we find fumaroles and boiling waters. On the banks of the lake, and due to volcanic activity, locals make the traditional Cozido.

Cozido das Furnas is a stew made from different kinds of meat such as chicken, beef, pork, sausages, and vegetables: you can find cabbage, carrots, sweet potatoes, kale. All of these are placed in a pot and then in the underground, to be slow cooked for about 7 hours with the help of the volcano. The only thing that is added, besides the ingredients, is the salt. The flavour comes from the spices in the different types of sausages they add and the fat from the meat. Are you hungry? Great! Because after the canoeing it is time for lunch and the menu is the famous Cozido.

Following this tasteful lunch, our afternoon is going to start at Terra Nostra botanical garden that is famous for its extraordinary collection of native plants of the Azores, as well as others from all over the world that have adapted to the local garden conditions. At the end of the visit, you are invited to bathe in an iron-rich hot water swimming pool that has a temperature of 35-40º C, a superb experience! On the way back to Ponta Delgada we are going to pass by several viewpoints on the North Coast. Enjoy the landscapes!
