Manoel de Oliveira produced films until his death in 2015 at the age of 106, becoming the oldest filmmaker in an activity. Always in love with cinema, Manoel has met his beloved Maria Isabel, at a feast for the aristocracy in Porto. This feeling was so intense that the filmmaker did not hesitate to propose and ask her father blessing. The stern father did not agree with the idea since the spouse did not seem to be a rich man due to the fact it was not a landowner. Manoel de Oliveira did not give up and bought the estates around Quinta de Covela to demonstrate to the father of his fiancée that he had money. This is how the Quinta de Covela expanded and nowadays has vast vineyards with beautiful gardens and where the refreshing Vinho Verde is produced, unique in the world.
