My tips for trying new things

We should try new things as much as possible to make life more active and join some adrenaline to it as this is the fuel for living. Here my top tips for doing just that:

  1. Don't be afraid.

Fear stops people from doing so many things. Do not be afraid to talk to people you do not know or try a new skill. The other person is probably also nervous and if we make the effort and talk to a stranger people often surprise us with a warm welcome.

Anything seems strange the first few times you do it - but the more strangers you meet and talk to, the more comfortable you start to feel.

  1. If you are not sure about what experiences you would like to try, start with something that gives you pleasure, and you love. It can be a “hobby” which makes you feel satisfied.

There will be many options around you. Get inspired by a cookbook and try to make some of the recipes or try a book of a genre you would never read normally.

  1. Do some volunteering - even a few hours of your time can really help someone, and you can learn something new in the process.

Try a new sport or take a walk in a new place. Reach out to someone who you have not been in touch for a long time. We all have busy lives and it is easy for friends to get apart, at times. Get in touch with someone you have not talked to in a while and suggest going somewhere you have never been before. Try something out of the ordinary. The important thing is to discover something new that makes you feel new emotions.

  1. Have a diary

I like to write things and I always have a notebook where I point out my ideas and insights to put into practice later. When trying something new, take your writing notes: what did you like or dislike? Did this generate other ideas? Build something on them. Make a list of the things you would like to try and record them as you go.

  1. Tenacity

Do not give up on anything right away – it is rare for people to be good at something the first time they do something new. All of us, to learn to walk or bike we fell a lot of times first. It is hard work to spend so much energy to fall, over and over. But getting up and moving on is a unique feeling! The feeling of accomplishment is just as valuable as the feeling of learning.

I hope these tips have inspired you to get out there and try something new and out your confort zone!
