What to do on a rainy day in Lisbon

We always try to travel at a time of good weather and when the rain is far away. The same thing happens when we want to schedule plans with friends. However, this is totally unpredictable. Even so, there is no reason to worry. We leave a list of activities to do in Lisbon on a rainy day.

1. Explore the Lisbon Oceanarium

The Lisbon Oceanarium, located in the Parque das Nações, promotes the proximity of visitors with its more than 15,000 animals - birds, mammals, fish and other marine inhabitants - and more than 450 different species of plants. This is the second-largest aquarium in Europe and was once considered the best in the world, according to TripAdvisor. The main attraction is the central aquarium that occupies the entire height of the room. It is as if you were diving into the depths of the ocean, with all these animals.

Aside from being perfect for a rainy day, it's a plan that kids will surely love!

2. Visit the Markets of Campo de Ourique and Ribeira

Discover the most fashionable markets in the city! Ideal for experiencing some restaurants and tasting delicious (sweet or savory) snacks in a very comfortable environment. In the Markets of Campo de Ourique or Ribeira (the latter also known as Time Out Market), it is possible to travel through the gastronomy of the world, since you will find specialties from different countries. The spaces are modern, very trendy, and with a very own concept.

Here, you can eat, drink, talk, read and even buy souvenirs from Lisbon.

3. Try a Pastel de Belém

We have already talked about the famous Pastéis de Belém, the great gastronomic specialties of Lisbon. What could be more perfect than eating crisp, freshly cooked pies on a rainy day? Sit at the Fábrica dos Pastéis de Belém and comfort your taste buds. You will not only find Pastéis de Belém in this historic confectionery but countless other mouth-watering sweets, which also follow traditional recipes. You can also learn how to cook the pastel de nata with a professional!

Let the rain stay out there, far away!

4. Take an Electric (Like a Real "Lisboeta")

The image of the tram car in the historic area of Lisbon should be one of the great postcards of the city. Discover all the most important places of the Portuguese capital and its rich historical and cultural heritage. If the experience is in a vintage tram tour in Lisbon, with a classic and a very charismatic look, the ride becomes even more amazing! Visit the most typical neighborhoods of Lisbon such as Alfama, Bairro Alto, and Lapa, among many other points of great tourist interest.

So there is no rain that wins, does it?

5. Feel the creativity of the LX FACTORY

We present one of the coolest and most artistic areas of Lisbon: the LX Factory, a kind of island where everything happens. Located in Alcântara, this new area is one of our great recommendations for a rainy day in Lisbon. Here, you can read, attend workshops, eat and talk, shop for well-made clothing and decorations, organic and vintage products, try out alternative therapies, watch bold designs, and even get tattoos!

A modern, aesthetic, creative and intense space built from the ruins of the factories that once stood there. It is one of the best adventures that you will live in Lisbon!

6. Become a Sherlock Holmes at the Escape Hunt

If you have not heard of Escape Games, let's explain the concept in a simple way: a group of friends locked in a room to solve very interesting challenges, crimes and intrigues. But attention: the mission has time! Join all the clues and find the best way to solve the mysteries in the shortest possible time. At Escape Hunt Lisboa, you will find three different levels, each with a specific theme: "The Mystery of Fernando Pessoa", "The Great Lisbon Earthquake" or "The Introduction to a Secret Society".

Choose your challenge and dare to test your mental ability!

Now you know what to do in Lisbon when it rains. In the list above, you can find countless ways to spend time with your friends, family, and boyfriend. There is no excuse: get off the couch, grab the jacket, get out of the house and discover all that Lisbon has to offer!
